Our trip to the coast was a HUGE success and I can honestly say that the trip there and back was not the ordeal I thought it would be. We arrived in East London on a windy Friday afternoon and of course could not wait for Uncle Iain to get home from work so we could hit the beach! Reagan was absolutely enthralled with the BIG sandpit and kept picking up the sand and letting it blow all over her, she was sandy from top to toe. Mackenzie just ran and ran, the freedom of having so much space went straight to her head!
Both kids however, were not too impressed with the waves and Mackenzie climbed up Uncle Iain like a monkey so she wouldn't get her feet wet!
Saturday morning we headed to the beach again and we had to tear both kids away or we would not have made it to the wedding. There were such interesting things to see and Uncle Iain was kind enough to explain the ins and outs of a hermit crab and knew just where to find one! They also discovered a dead parrot fish, something I have also never seen and it really does have a beak just like a parrot's. So eventually we made it home and barely had time for a quick bath before it was time to leave for the church. Mackenzie insisted on wearing a dress about 2 sizes too small as it is just "so pretty Mommy" and surprisingly, it looked as though it was just the right size and she felt like a princess! The reception was held at the Blue Lagoon hotel and the view from the balcony was stunning. Reagan took over the dance floor and had everyone in giggles at her dancing, Mackenzie did not sit still for 5 seconds either and eventually both passed out from sheer exhaustion.
But the highlight of the whole trip was seeing Uncle Iain and all my cousins. Friday and Saturday were just too short and after a very quick decision, we stayed for breakfast with the whole family on Sunday morning and only left East London at 12!
If I had a lesson to learn out of this trip it is that life is too short to worry about things that you cannot change, look around you and grab every moment given to you, wether it is a hug from your kids or 48 hours at the beach with your family! Its these things that make life what it is, and yes, you may have to pay for petrol to get there, but its all worth it to know that you belong somewhere and there are people who love you for who you are...
Here are all the cousins.

How lovely! I always say that petrol is nothing for those long trips, its the memories one takes away.
